About Us
Spitfire Cottage rests within our post‑war 14‑acre smallholding in the idyllic Vale of Strathmore. Set in the peaceful hamlet of Campmuir, once a Roman camp and just under two miles from Coupar Angus, the cottage looks out across the Sidlaw Hills, surrounded by colourful gardens and uninterrupted countryside views.
Inside, the cottage has been recently renovated and thoughtfully furnished. It features a spacious dining kitchen, a walk‑in shower room, a master bedroom, and a cosy living room with breathtaking views that lead through to two additional bedrooms.
The garden offers a sunny, sheltered patio, neat lawns, and vibrant flower tubs — an ideal spot to unwind and enjoy the abundance of surrounding wildlife. From red kites to goldfinches, the area is rich in birdlife; red deer often wander through the nearby fields, and you might even see a hedgehog exploring the garden.
Our location provides a perfect blend of peaceful rural living with easy access to quaint villages, historic towns, and bustling cities, all within a 30‑minute drive.

A warm, comfortable living space with seating for six, a log‑effect electric stove for cosy cottage ambience, Smart TV with Netflix, PS4, books, games, and beautiful views from the window.
Modern Dining Kitchen
A bright, modern kitchen and dining area with seating for 4–6 plus a highchair. Well equipped with a dishwasher, large fridge‑freezer, double oven, microwave and everything you need from home.
Walk-in Shower Room
A modern walk‑in shower room with accessibility rail, toilet, vanity unit with storage and a large heated towel radiator. Scottish Fine Soaps toiletries, fresh towels, and toilet roll are all provided.
Master Bedroom
A kingsize pocket‑sprung mattress with quality cotton bedlinen, a large double wardrobe, and views across the fields and hills beyond.
Double Bedroom
A double pocket‑sprung mattress with quality cotton bedlinen, ample storage with hangers, and views over the garden and front aspect.
Single Bedroom with Workspace
A single room with views across the fields, complete with a desk and chair for a quiet workspace. Children’s books provided.
Dog Friendly Accommodation
We’re delighted to welcome up to two well-behaved dogs to Spitfire Cottage. With fantastic walks right from the doorstep, it’s the perfect base for you and your four-legged companion. In your welcome pack, you’ll find a detailed walking map, along with a handy guide to local dog-friendly cafés and pubs.
The garden is fully enclosed and secure, with stock fencing, mature hedging, and a gated entrance. There’s plenty of space to enjoy, including a large lawn for play and exercise, as well as a designated area for toileting.
To help your dog feel at home, we provide a water bowl, biodegradable poo bags, and a selection of natural baked dog treats.
We welcome up to two dogs for a small charge of £10 per stay, which helps cover additional cleaning costs. Please remember to add your dog to your booking when making your reservation.
As we keep free-range poultry on the property, we kindly ask that dogs remain on a lead whenever they are outside the secure garden area.
Farm Life
Spitfire Cottage sits within our 14‑acre smallholding, with the landscape changing through the seasons. In winter, sheep graze the field directly in front of the cottage, and in summer we cut the grass with our tractor and turn it into hay bales for horse feed.
Surrounded by rich, productive farmland, we’re bordered by fields growing broccoli, potatoes, barley, oilseed rape, peas, and carrots, so it’s common to see farm machinery passing by or working nearby throughout the day.
Animals
Our flock of hens lay fresh eggs that we sell right at the farm gate, and in spring we also offer duck eggs. We breed call ducks, a small bantam breed of mixed colours, so during the summer months you might spot ducklings exploring the paddock with their parents.
Poultry roam free-range during the day in the surounding paddock, so we politely ask that dogs and children are kept under supervision outside the enclosed garden.
